VARANASI: Flying Lemur, a rare mammal species, native to China and the Philippines, was found in a paper box here, forest department officials said on Tuesday.

“The animal was found near Sarnath railway station late last evening and has been shifted to the local zoo,” the Forest Conservator, Mr Hemant Kumar, told PTI.

He said passengers at Sarnath railway station noticed some activity in a paper box lying abandoned near a track and informed the railway authorities.

The Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee, (CSMC) of the submission on Urban Infrastructure and Governance (UIG) under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewable Mission (JNNURM) approved Sewerage Project for Varanasi, Trans - Varuna area and Storm water drainage for Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.

Varanasi, Dec 18 (ANI): Some doctors here claims that cow urine treatment can lower blood-sugar levels and cure diabetes. The doctors also claim that it can cure many diseases and can be helpful to cancer patients.

In 2008, a study by scientists in Bangalore found that cow urine has anti-diabetic properties.

UTTAR PRADESH: Verses from the Hindu epic Ramayana can be heard as soon as one alights at the main bus stop in this small Uttar Pradesh town. They can be heard from loudspeakers in various neighbourhoods. The chanting emanates from an ancient temple and has been going on non-stop for nine months.

The continuous recitation is part of an "Akhand Ramayana Path", or a 24-hour reading of the epic, but residents of Jalesar in Etah district, around 350 km from state capital Lucknow, hope to continue it for another three months to complete a year.

Inspite of high security, tourists have shifted their itinerary plans from Varanasi to some other places.

Pradeep Biswal, General Manager of a five star hotel in Varanasi said that the Mumbai terror attacks have caused a sharp decline in tourist arrivals.
